Installation Recommendations for Removable Bollards
1. Locate
Find where the bollards will be installed.
2. Check for Hazards
Always check for hazards such as water pipes, gas lines and underground wiring before digging.
You must also check traffic conditions to ensure safety for yourself, pedestrians and vehicles.
3. Drill Recommendations

| Bitumen | Cut bitumen to a square the width of the bollard + at least 100mm. Dig out the ground to a depth 70–100mm deeper than the sleeve height to allow for gravel, drainage or blue metal. |
| Concrete | Core drill with a bit at least 100mm wider than the inground sleeve. Dig out the ground to a depth 70–100mm deeper than the sleeve height to allow for gravel, drainage or blue metal. |
4. Drainage
Allow for drainage by adding gravel, blue metal or drain rock.
5. Test
Test the bollard mechanism to ensure the bollard is working correctly.
6. Install Bollard
Tape over the bottom to prevent loose material entering the bollard (the tape will degrade over time to allow drainage).
Place the bollard assembly in the centre of the installation hole.
Ensure the top edge of the sleeve sits approximately 5mm above ground level.
7. Concrete
Mix and prepare the concrete according to instructions and pour evenly into the site.
The concrete should be slightly raised toward the top edge of the receiver to create a slight berm.
Avoid disrupting the bollard assembly.
8. Inspect
Inspect the bollard to ensure it is level and the insert/top cover plate operates correctly and sits flush with the top of the inground sleeve.
9. Time to Cure
Allow 2–3 days minimum for concrete to cure before beginning construction work on the surface.
Moisture and cool temperatures can significantly slow the curing process.
